Are MEATBALLS Paleo?

They certainly CAN be!  Although I must say I find it rather interesting that most readers tend to think that they need to be made with breadcrumbs, day old bread or rice, or some other sort of 'filler' starch!

Interestingly, when I checked out Wikipedia, the definition was in keeping with what the readers thought:

"A meatball is foodstuff made from an amount of ground meat rolled into a small ball, sometimes along with other ingredients, such as breadcrumbs, minced onion, spices, and possibly eggs."

I must whole heartedluy disagree with the concept that meatballs HAVE to include those fillers.   There is no downside to omiting them and many benefits, the most important of which is that it allows them to be made in a Paleo friendly  manner!

Whether you're griding up turkey legs, chicken breast, or a combination (my fave) of grass fed chuck with grass fed short ribs (eating the fattier cuts once in a while is a non issue), you simply do not need to add anything to the lovely meat and herbs.

I've made meatballs out of many different meats, to suit many different regional cuisines, from Italian with basil, tomato, egg and olive oil, to Greek with minced onions, mint & oregano.

No one misses the bread-products… and no one leaves with a stomach ache!
