Why Are So Many Athletes Eating Junk?
I came across this article which discusses the topic of when and how much carbohydrate one needs to consume during endurance training and racing.
Valid topic, indeed, but what really caught my attention was the piece at the end, in which the athlete mentions stopping at the store, while training, to grab a 'snickers and a red bull'.
Wow.
Not dissimilar to Michael Phelps speaking about what he eats for breakfast (grain & sugar festival!).
If professional athletes are eating this (and believe me, it's more common than not to see this in the diet of athletes in all sports, unfortunately), and still performing well, imagine how much better they'd be yet, if they were to eat REAL FOOD, as in, PALEO?
I'm just sayin..
