Multi-Tasking In The Kitchen
If you've been allocating time to prep your veggies, grill your fish and wash your fruit each week- good for you! You're ahead of the game. Perhaps, however, you find yourself stuck in a rut making the same things over and over again.
With a little creativity and thinking outside the box, you can keep your taste buds entertained, in the same amount of time, without worry that you'll stray from your healthy diet.
-Throw together a few different sauces/dips that you can use not only to dress up veggies, but for marinades for your protein. Last week, I made a large batch of peach salsa, reserved half for guests at a dinner I hosted to use as a dip for crudites, and used up the other half marinating some otherwise plain chicken breast. Try the same with tomato salsa, guacamole, homemade curries and tomato sauces.
-Make your own blend of salad dressings= use the 3:1 ratio of oil; acid (acid being either from lemon or lime, NOT vinegar) and choose olive, flax, avocado and walnut oils for variety. Throw in your fave fresh herbs, too!
-Make extra steamed veggies, add some sauteed onion and throw into the blender with some homemade chicken broth and puree into a soup.
Just a few ideas to efficiently turn boring into tasty in no time, fast!
