Paleo Goes Lebanese!
One of my favourite things to do is to purposely put myself in situations where I have to be crafty in order to find something Paleo to eat- at a restaurant, both posh and hole in the wall, at the airport or on a road trip.
Over the weekend, my husband and I went to a hole-in-the wall Lebanese restaurant that was recommended to us by a good friend. Outcome- fantastic!
We checked with the kitchen to ask about ingredients that could potentially have been hidden deal breakers, then ended up with:
Zaatar (Thyme)
Slices of tomatoes coated in zaatar and extra virgin olive oil, garnished with olives, cucumbers and fresh mint.
Eggplant Delight
Grilled eggplant topped with fresh diced tomatoes, parsley, a touch of diced onions and extra virgin olive oil.
Shish Tawook (Chicken Kebab)
Cubes of chicken breast marinated with garlic grilled on a skewer served with rice, Lebanese salad, garlic sauce and pita bread. In lieu of rice, pita and sauce- extra veg!
Sorry- no pic for this one; after 6 hours of training that day- the chicken didn't stand a chance!
