From one of the collaborators of The Paleo Diet Cookbook— finally, a fun, female-friendly way for women to enjoy the health and lifestyle benefits of what has been called the “Caveman Diet.” The Paleo lifestyle grows out of the belief that we were intended to eat off the land: what walks on it, grows from it, or swims in its waters. It’s about sticking to the kinds of foods that human beings were born to ingest (meat, fish, vegetables, fruit, roots, and nuts), and excluding those that were developed later (grains, legumes, dairy products, salt, refined sugar, and processed oils).
Nell Stephenson shows readers—not just women—from all walks of life that it’s not hard to maintain the Paleo lifestyle whenever, wherever, or whomever you are. She shows that Paleo isn’t just a lifestyle for “cavemen”—it’s a healthy way for anyone to eat. There are simple ways to incorporate this ancestral diet into today’s busy modern lifestyle, whether you’re cooking for yourself or even for a larger family. Paleoista is not only a how-to book, it is also a glimpse into the life of a woman who gives advice on how to eat this way, and lives the life, day in and day out.
Nell Stephenson teamed up with Dr.Loren Cordain, PhD and Lorrie Cordain to produce The Paleo Diet Cookbook. She grew up in upstate New York with her parents, Dave and Ellen (who was about as hippie-San Francisco as you could get!) and younger brother, Dave. She studied Exercise Science at USC, followed by culinary school. She worked as a private fitness trainer and then later as a nutritional consultant.
Nell now owns and operates her paleo nutritional counseling business online with clients around the globe to help them learn how to easily implement the principles of the Paleo diet into their lives: effectively, efficiently and permanently. She’s working towards her long-term career goal of changing how America (or maybe even the world!) eats, one person at a time! In addition, she is coordinating Paleo implementation programs for private gyms, corporate health teams and other organizations interested in the well being of their members or employees.
She consults for restaurants developing Paleo menus, has blogged and twittered about all things Paleo since 2007 and is producing a series of “How To Cook Paleo” DVDs.
Nell resides in Los Angeles, CA with her husband Chris and two (totally Paleo) Weimaraners, Graham and Daisy.
