There is just something fundamentally wrong with so many diets!!
I'm on a mission. I want to change the way America eats! I can't stand it! The number of people who are eating improperly is growing and growing and so are their waistlines!
Don't get me wrong; I'm not being critical. Not of the individual people, that is! The 'Diet Industry'? Now, that's another story!
Many, many people try time and again to lose the excess fat by following one (or more) of the many diets plans that are available today. Anything from diets which exclude entire macro-nutrients (i.e. "no carbs), to those that focus on only one food ("I only eat cabbage") to medically supervised programs (which focus on taking pills to 'curb the appetite' and 'shake mixes from the health club').
What is wrong with this picture?
I'll tell you what's wrong- none of the approaches I listed above are permanent, real-life solutions that one will be able to implement for the rest of their lives!
I've said it before and I'll say it again- YOU NEED TO EAT FOOD!
Fresh vegetables and fruits, lean meats, raw nuts, clean olive oils and avocados, plenty of water- that is food!
Packages of diet cookies, sugar-free ice cream, reduced calorie fried chicken…these are NOT foods!
It may sound daunting, or even completely undesirable, the idea of making radical changes to your diet, especially if you've been conditioned to associate vegetables with those that have been cooked to death and your idea of fruit is a tin can of peaches in heavy syrup.
Despite this, I encourage you to give it a try. Take small steps! Add a new fruit each week. Start adding a little bit of veg at each meal. Eat less processed food. "EAT MORE KALE". Send me an email! I'll send you a food log and you can start tracking what you're eating and figure out what needs to be tweaked!
Most importantly, don't give up. The human body is extremely adaptable to both negative and positive stimuli- keep at it- eat food and move and you're bound to succeed!
