Today’s Healthy Holiday Tip
Turkey, Turkey, Turkey… are you still trying to get through Friday's (Christmas Day's) leftovers? You can always freeze what ever may be left until you're not feeling turkeyed out!
One thing to note about turkey- aside from being a great source of lean protein (depending on what cut you're eating), if you're eating wild turkey, you're more in keeping with what our paleolithic ancestors ate, as compared to eating cage-raised chickens or farmed fish.
I always chuckle when I hear people say that they don't want to eat too much turkey because of what they have heard about 'eating too much of the amino acid L-Tryptophan making them tired on Christmas Dinner'.
While there is, indeed, plenty of that aa along with others in a serving of turkey- give yourself a reality check. I'd be willing to bet that many people actually get tired because of the stuffing, bread rolls, and SUGAR that they ate during the festivities! (I wouldn't worry about eating too much lean turkey breast making you tip the scales, in and of itself!)
Now go eat some kale!
