Today’s Healthy Holiday Tip…
In the mood for one of the many holiday drinks that are offered this time of year at the coffee drinks? Peppermint Mochas, Gingerbread Lattes and Eggnog Shakes are but a few of the many choices you'll come across on a menu at your local cafe.
Before you splurge- make sure you know what you're getting yourself into! A 16 oz beverage with milk or eggnog, and syrup, and whipping cream can top the charts at four, five or six hundred plus calories!
If you have one on occasion (and that doesn't mean one occasion per day!), say one or two during the holiday season while everything else in your diet is balanced, it's probably not a HUGE deal. BUT- why not try something else? A decaf coffee after dinner, with a sprinkle of nutmeg and a cinnamon stick looks and tastes fantastic! Or, opt for one of the many seasonal themed hot teas for loads of flavor and delicate aromas with zero calories to derail you from your healthy eating.
My all time fave, though, is a simply, perfectly poured black espresso with just the precise amount of crema on top. In fact, that sounds like a great idea right before I head out for my afternoon swim!
