If filet mignon is not in your budget, opting for a less expensive cut doesn't have to result in a dry, tasteless entree. With a bit of the right spices, you'll have a lovely meal that's just as delicious!
Ingredients
- 1 ripe medium tomato
- 1 clove raw garlic, smashed
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- 1 1 pound grass fed sirloin steak
- 2 teaspoons dried cumin
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
Instructions
- Combine first three ingredients in food processor to create a paste
- Use a meat tenderizer tool to pound steaks
- Spread paste onto both sides of steak and let sit at room temp for 30 minutes
- Preheat your broiler
- Combine dried spices in small bowl
- Place steaks on wire rack and sprinkle half the spice mixture on top
- Broil for five minutes, turn over and sprinkle the rest of spices on
- Broil five minutes longer
- Check internal temperature and cook longer if you prefer a more well done steak
- Remove from oven and tent with foil for five minutes
- Serve with your favorite steamed veggies or salad.
